360 Photo Booth vs Traditional Photo Booth: Which Is Right for Your Event?

We rent both 360 video booths and traditional open-air, mirror, and enclosed photo booths every weekend. Clients constantly ask which is better — and the honest answer is that they do different things. Here's how to decide.

What a 360 booth actually does

A 360 booth is a small platform (usually 32 inches across) with a camera arm that rotates around guests, capturing slow-motion vertical video. The output is a 10–15 second clip optimized for Instagram, TikTok, and Reels. Guests stand on the platform, the arm spins, and the booth's software handles slow-motion, music, and overlays automatically.

What it's good for: high-energy events, brand activations, mitzvahs, and any event where the goal is shareable social content. The line at a 360 booth stays long all night.

    What a traditional booth does

A traditional photo booth — open-air, mirror, or enclosed — captures still photos and prints them on the spot. Mirror booths add a touch-screen interface with animations and signing. Open-air booths use a backdrop plus a camera and work great for large groups (up to 10 people in one shot).

What it's good for: weddings where guests want a printed keepsake, corporate events where you want a branded photo-strip giveaway, and any event where the prints become part of the decor or guestbook.

    Side-by-side comparison

    • Output: 360 = video clips. Traditional = photos and (optional) prints.
    • Capacity: 360 = ~30 sessions/hour. Traditional = ~60 prints/hour.
    • Group size: 360 PRO = 6–7 guests / 360 Express = 3–4 guests per session. Traditional open-air = up to 10.
    • Footprint: 360 PRO = ~12x12 ft / 360 Express = ~10x10 ft. Mirror/open-air = ~8x8 ft.
    • Best for: 360 = social-first events, brands, mitzvahs. Traditional = weddings, milestone birthdays, corporate keepsakes.
    • Add-ons: 360 supports custom music and overlays; traditional supports prints, props, and guest sign-in books.

    Can you have both?

Yes — and a lot of weddings and corporate events do. We can package a 360 booth together with a print booth (mirror, open-air, or enclosed) so guests get the shareable video and the printed keepsake from the same event. The only requirement is space: as long as the venue has room for both setups, we'll bundle them and one booth never becomes a bottleneck.

When you bundle multiple booths with us, pricing is more efficient than booking each separately. Tell us your event size and venue and we'll suggest a setup that fits the room.

    What it costs

Prices vary by date, location, run-time, and add-ons. 360 booths and mirror booths sit at similar price points; open-air booths are typically the most affordable entry point. Send us your event details and we'll quote real numbers — usually within a few hours.

Have a question that isn't answered here? Tap the Chat with us button in the corner — we typically reply instantly.

    Do 360 booths print photos?

Standard 360 booths capture video, not still photos for printing. We offer separate print stations or pair the 360 booth with a traditional booth if prints matter to you.

    Are 360 videos shareable instantly?

Yes — guests get their video by text, AirDrop, or QR code within seconds of stepping off the platform. Branded overlays and music are baked in.

Which booth handles big groups better?

Open-air and traditional booths handle 8–10 people per shot. The 360 PRO platform fits 6–7 guests; the 360 Express fits 3–4.

Do mirror booths still feel current?

Mirror booths absolutely still work — they're an interactive, touch-screen experience with animations, signing, and prints. They're a strong choice for weddings and milestone events where guests want a tactile, fun experience plus a printed keepsake.
